The adventures are run by Karen Webb from Destination Waiheke Island who with her husband Rob, specialise in putting together incredible conferences, amazing activities and unique experiences for corporate groups coming to Waiheke Island.
Since 2001, close to 10,000 people have escaped the ordinary, and participated in a Great Escape Adventure thanks to the dynamic founder, Karen Webb. No newcomer to corporate events, Karen has over 30 years of experience training and developing corporate skills. Match this with her infectious energy and an intimate and in-depth knowledge of Waiheke Island and you have The Great Escape, a series of completely unique and highly rewarding island adventures. If you’re looking for specifics:

1986-2000 - Karen held a number of training & development management positions around the Asia Pacific region including: Manager of the Training Division with Organisational Development Limited, Hong Kong Training Manager for Mandarin Oriental, a five star hotel in Hong Kong. Training consultant for IWNC Group, DDI International and SWIFT International facilitating Team development programmes in Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, China and Hawaii. Training Manager and part of the opening team for the temporary Sydney Harbour Casino (now Star Casino).

2001 - Founded The Great Escape event on Waiheke island while also consulting as a senior facilitator for Peak Performance, running customer value and management development programmes to businesses around NZ including Air New Zealand, Telecom, BNZ, DHL and Ruapehu Alpine Lifts.

2007 - Established Wild on Waiheke with husband Rob – a multi-activity venue offering a licensed cafe, team building activities, archery & laser claybird shooting – all set amongst a vineyard and on-site brewery.

2012 - Established Destination Waiheke Island which specialises in putting together incredible conferences, amazing activities and unique experiences for corporate groups coming to Waiheke Island.
